Forms of Media : 

Types of media is the most routine aspect of microbiological Lab in which their different forms which supports and utilizes on different places and for different form support to get the Desired Organisms isolations.

So here we are going to deal with the types of media depending upon their forms (Solid Or Liquid) for cultivations/growth purpose of microorganisms forms of media can be considered in three main forms which are frequently used in Labs.

1)Liquid Medium

2)Solid Medium

As above mentioned types of media depending on the forms these forms used in laborafory for cultivations & stimulations of the growth purpose of the organism.

1) Liquid Medium :

The liquid media introducing own self that it contain liquid in it which is nothing but termed as "Broth" which is kept in the flasks or in the test tubes in lab.

Its best way to provide all essentials requirements to organism in the form liquid medium i.e.Broth to stimulate their growth which gives estimated results of growth or cultivation of all types of Organism.

Example : 

Liquid medium are known as "Broth" 

Nutrient Broth (NB), Potato Dextrose Broth (PDB) etc.

2) Solid Medium :

Solid medium is the second most commonly and routinely used in microbiological laboratories media type which means it has additional ingredient which was absent in Broth but here in Solid media its compulsorily present called as "Agar-Agar".

     Agar Agar obgained from the Red Algae

 

Agar is the responsible for media solidfication because it play a role of solidifying agent in the media which makes media Soild while im broth its totally absent

Its must have requirement of Solid media preparation.

Solid media are kept in Round with Cover lead plates known as "Petri Plate or Petri Dishes".

Test tubes are also used in labs for the storing microbial Culture or Strains called "Slant" used for preservation techniques.

Solid media are Agar containing media which supports solidifying agent 

Some frequent Agar example are 

Nutrient Agar (NA) , Potato Destrose Agar (PDA) Mannitol Salt Agar (MSA) etc.
