Roles of ions in Microbial Cells :

Roles of ions and their Contribution in Microbial Cell :

K+ :- is required for  involved in Protein Synthesis & activity of various Enzymes.

Ca2+ :- Contributes heat resistancy of bacterial endospores 15% sopres contains dipicolinic acid & calcium.

Mg2+ :- Magnesium serves as a co-factor for many enzymes
Mg with ATP & stabilizes ribosomes & Cell membrane.

Fe2+ & Fe3+ :- these are the part of cytochromes (cytes=cells , chrome=colors)
& co-factor for enzymea and electron (e-) carrying proteins

Similarly from Micro elements which also termed as Trace elements have these following ions ,
✓ These are catalyzes the reactions and having great role in maintaining the structure of Protein.

Zn2+ :- Zinc is present at the active site of some enzymes but it also play role in the association of sub-units
As it pršŸ˜Žsence in (aspartate carbomyl transferase) in E.Coli

Mn2+ :- Manganese have the vital role in catalyzing enzymes and helps in transfer of Phosphate Groups

Mo2+ :- Molybdenum requires play role in nitrogen fixation.

Co2+ :- Cobalt is a component of Vitamin B12
